And THIS is why I've been so quiet on here lately. I've been working on this for almost two weeks now, with an on again/off again relationship. I've both adored it with all of my heart and hated it like a woman scorned.
These are real swords, not fantasy ones. However, they're a really good base for the making of fantasy swords based on their length and shape. I used reference pictures for most of these, and then used the pen tool and Photoshop to actually make them after I had sketched them onto paper.
From left to right, they are the dha, kris, khopesh, kalis, falcata, katana, dao, kilij, a small sword, sabre, ram dao, cutlass, khanda, a hook swords (meant to be used as a pair), kopis, a viking sword, schiavona, scimitar, dadao, kampilan, falchion, claymore, shotel, rapier, a long sword, aruval, urumi, flammard, and a zweihander.
Most of the image references came from either Wikipedia or 'Weapon - A Visual History of Arms and Armor'.
These are eyeballed references, so if there are flaws in the color (which there are, because I wanted them to be more uniform) or shape, the fault is mine.
